The eye lands on a single red iris before it understands anything else. Only then does the rest resolve: a woman's face, assembled from broken porcelain and black lacquer shards, staring up from the floor of a candlelit room.
Design Story
The composition is a circular mosaic, centred on a fragmented portrait. One eye is lined and lucid; the other dissolves into a dark hollow trailing crimson. Around them, cream and obsidian tiles carry gilded filigree, a compass star set with a red stone, a crescent charm, a death's-head moth, spider-web crazing and a deep red rose. Rose petals fill the gaps between shards. The palette stays disciplined — bone white, black, antique gold, blood red — so the detail reads as elegance rather than noise. Nothing moves. The stillness is the point.
Room & Styling
As a rug, the round silhouette does the work: the medallion fills the surface edge to edge, with the face anchoring the centre and the ornamental shards resolving into a natural border. Viewed from standing height it reads as a whole; step closer and the small motifs emerge. A statement floor piece for a dark, deliberately styled interior.
