Some images do not announce themselves. This one draws the eye inward, past a crown of thorns and claws, into a cold green hollow where a second heart waits in suspension.

Design Story

The outer edge is cut as a heart, but the silhouette refuses to stay smooth: hooked spines, scalloped plates and a spider-web spire push outward and downward, so the cut line tracks every barb and point of the design. Deep oxblood reds and bone-pale claws build the frame, and a red faceted gem anchors both the top and bottom axis. Inside, the palette flips to luminous teal — a cavern of stairs, arched windows, chained lanterns and a still pool. Warm points of candlelight interrupt the cold interior, creating the tension that holds the piece together. The carved-looking relief around the perimeter reads as depth; the open interior reads as distance. Warm frame, cold centre, one small heart at the vanishing point.

Display & Styling

As a heteromorphic wood sign, the custom die-cut silhouette does the work a rectangle never could — the thorn tips and lower spire break the outline, so the shape registers as an object rather than a panel. The rope hanger sits naturally with the composition, and the central scene stays legible at door and entry scale.
