A single eye, held open by stone and horn, meets the viewer from the floor. The image does not move. It simply looks back.
Design Story
The composition is radial and near-symmetrical: a vertical slit pupil at the centre, iris fissures glowing outward like cooling lava, then a ring of dark scaled lids, then tapering claws and fractured rock that break the outline into an irregular silhouette. Warm amber and ember red sit against near-black plating, so the brightest value falls exactly where the eye is meant to land. Tension comes from containment rather than action — everything points inward, and the surrounding shards create their own uneven border instead of a drawn frame.
Entryway & Styling
On a doormat, the motif reads from above and at standing distance, which suits a centred subject this large. The jagged stone edge softens the rectangular footprint, and the dark outer field gives the glowing centre room to breathe. Placed at a threshold, the artwork becomes a sightline: the entry looks up as you look down.
